Job description

I work at Laguna Middle School teaching band and theater classes to 7th and 8th graders. For the first 8 years of my career in this district I taught K-6 music and band as well. Over the last 10 years in the county I have also been involved with the SLO Youth Symphony in various capacities.

Why did you choose this program?

I wanted small class sizes so I could get individualized attention and have direct contact with my professors.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

This program helped me to become more involved in the local music education community and put me in direct contact with local teachers and students.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I really enjoyed the community of fellow classmates I met while studying at HSU. I am in regular contact with many of them, and regularly reach out for support when I need help with lesson planning, pedagogy, venting, etc.
