CANCELLED: All Choirs Concert

Please join the Humboldt Department of Music and choral director Rachel Samet as they present the All Choirs Concert, a unique opportunity to hear all four of Humboldt's choirs in a single eclectic and uplifting concert experience.   Madrigal Singers, Mad River Transit Singers, University Singers, and Humboldt Chorale will each showcase the different musical genres and styles offered by the Humboldt choral program by singing a set of thoughtfully collected choral works on Saturday, April 4th at 8:00 p.m. in Fulkerson Recital Hall.  The concert will include opportunities for audience participation and will culminate with Craig Hella Johnson's rousing arrangement of Carly Simon's Let the River Run, performed by more than one hundred singers.  $10 General, $5 Child, and FREE for Humboldt Students with ID.

This program will include something special for everyone in attendance, from the intimate chamber music of Madrigal Singers to the full concert choir sounds of University Singers, and from the sweet jazz harmonies of the Mad River Transit Singers to the passionate seventy voice Humboldt Chorale, comprised of three generations of student and community participants.  The program includes choral classics such as twentieth century American composer Samuel Barber's lush setting of Sure on This Shining Night and John Farmer's bawdy Renaissance English madrigal Fair Phyllis. Lesser known gems include Craig Hella Johnson's setting of Dolly Parton's Light of a Clear Blue Morning, John Leavitt's expressive setting of traditional Hebrew text with Oseh Shalom, and arrangements of George and Ira Gershwin's I've Got a Crush on You and Bob Dorough's blues tune I'm Comin' Home, Baby.  Please join the singers of the Humboldt Department of Music for this exciting celebration of choral music.
