Faculty member Paul Cummings has authored a Teacher Resource Guide in volume 12 of Teaching Music Through Performance in Band. His Resource Guide presents a detailed analysis of a piece for wind band called Notezart by American composer Cindy McTee. This volume will be published by GIA Music in December, 2020.

Humboldt Music Education alumna Holly MacDonell is starting her fourth year as President of the North Coast chapter of the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) and local representative on the CMEA state Board of Directors. Holly currently plays principal viola in the Eureka Symphony, and teaches strings and general music at Fieldbrook School, Coastal Grove Charter School, and the Humboldt Music Academy.

Congratulations - both belated and early - to Melanie Eastman.  This past spring, Melanie Eastman received a partial scholarship to participate in a summer opera program at the Berlin Opera Academy, but due to Covid, it was postponed until next summer. Among other things, she will perform the supporting role of Alms Sister in Suor Angelica with the additional option of the Sandman in Hänsel und Gretel as a role study, August 2021 in Berlin, Germany.
